Chapter One

Posted by ~*Thunderstar/Feathershine/Hollowsight*~

Dusty walked alongside her brother and sister, down the abandoned road that led to no-where. They had been walking all day, not to mention it was hot as blazes. Her sister Scout was 10, 2 years younger than herself. Dusty and Scout looked nothing alike. Scout had long, dark brown hair while Dusty had straight blonde hair. Their older brother Catcher was 15, and he made sure they knew it. Catcher looked like their dad, tall, study, and brown-haired. But he had their mother's blue eyes. As she snapped back into reality, her thoughts evaporated. She realized the sun was starting to melt into the darkness of evening. Catcher and Scout had gone ahead of her, and they were kicking stones across the pavement of the road. The game they were playing was their favorite past-time. All you had to do was keep your stone on the path, and never pick it up at any point in the game. From the looks of it, Catcher was winning, and Scout wasnt too happy about it. Dusty let out a sigh. Every time she saw Catcher, bittersweet memories of her parents would come flooding back. Both of their parents had died in a plane crash, while coming back to see Dusty and her siblings after a buisness trip. And now, Dusty and Catcher both knew they were on their own, forever. It was even worse when you had someone as young as Scout to take care of, as well as your own self. They hadnt had anything to eat in the last four days, and Scouts complainging matched her bellies. "Alright, now this is the hard part." She could hear Catcher explaining something to Scout. "Were on private proporty now, and we HAVE to keep moving or they'll catch us." She spotted Scout's lip quivering, and she opened her mouth to say something, but it was cut off as an alarm blared. Dusty flinced, and realized she had stepped on a panel that set off the alarm system. "RUN!" She yelled, as the trio dashed into the woods blindly, away from the only safe place they would find.
